BOKO HARAM: BORNO TO PAY PARENTS FOR SENDING THEIR CHILDREN TO SCHOOL

Borno state Government will start paying all parents from Northern part of the state wh enrols his children to school to acquire western education, Governor Kashim has said.

He also said that all the schools burnt down by Boko Haram terrorists which stood at more than 800 block of classrooms will be renovated, because poverty orchestrated by lack of access to education is what led to the insecurity in the state.

The Governor said this on Saturday when he met with elders and residents of Bama- GRA communities to interact with them and find out issues that needed to be addressed in their communities.

Addressing members of the community, Shettima said, he is part of the community having lived in the area for many years before becoming a governor, and therefore felt it necessary to come and rob minds on how best for overnment to render assistance to the area.

He said the construction of community gates which is the first of its kind in the state and instalment of solar streets light in the area is to minimize the rate at which some criminals found it easy to enter into the community to perpetrate evil act, pointing out that very soon all communities in Maiduguri metropolis will be provided with gates to be manned by vigilant youth who will be paid to safe guard their areas from criminals.

On the issues confronting the community such as lack of clinics, police outpost, primary school and befitting mosque, Shettima promised that his administration will ensure that contractors be mobilized to site next week to construct a new primary and Islamic school, mosque and the drilling of boreholes to service the community.

" I want to appealed to the people of this community and Borno in general, because there has been a decline in the mode of service by previous administrations which led to the neglect of providing dividends of democracy to the people, but assured that he will inculcate the culture of good governance and commitment to the socio-economic development of the state.

" We will strictly adhere to development oriented- politics, because I believed that once you work for your people, I don't think on election day you have to carry money with thugs to win election, but your legacy will work for you" Shettima stated.

Responding, the Chairman of Bama- GRA Residents Community ,Ambassador Ahmed Yusufari thanked Governor Shettima for the visit and his commitment to enhancing the welfare of his people.

He said, since his assumption of office as governor, he has addressed the issues affecting the community such as fencing and fonstruction of gates, streets lights, drainage and roads construction, and solving water shortages by drilling and rehabilitating some of the dilapidated boreholes in the area, noting that such gesture will remain memorable in their lives, as no government have ever done such to them.

Ambassador Yusufari therefore pledged their unflinching support to the present administration to succeed in developing the state, and prayed God to fully restore peace back to the state.
