Former Delta Commissioner Kidnapped By Gunmen, Police Orderly Killed

SAN FRANCISCO, July 13, (THEWILL) – Gunmen Saturday kidnapped a former Commissioner for Energy in Delta State during the administration of Chief James Ibori in a bloody operation that led to the slaying of his police orderly along the Benin/Warri highway.

Chief Emmanuel Ighomena, who is also a former Deputy State Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was seized on his way to Benin City, Edo State.

Though details of the incident are still sketchy, THEWILL gathered that one of the gunmen was killed by the police orderly as he attempted to push back the kidnappers, before he was overrun and shot to death.

Ighomena hails from Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area.
