IVROGBO PROGRESSIVE UNION MAKES CASE FOR DEVELOPMENT.

By GODDAY ODIDI

The Ivrogbo Progressive Union (IPU) recently held their annual conference in a grand style at Ivrogbo- Irri Town in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking with the President- General of Ivrogbo- Irri community, Mr. Enifome Osokpor said Ivrogbo – Irri Town as a community is gradually embracing political growth and development. This conference comprises all branches of Ivrogbo- Irri community, Lagos, Warri, Port Harcourt, and Ibadan, Oleh, Irri and others. We want to see how we can bring fast development to the community through our monthly contributions in all the scattered branches apart from government support. Ivrogbo community was not known before but today Ivrogbo- Irri Town is first to record with at the moment since some of our sons and daughters are in position of government.

He added that all Ivrogbo parents must train their children to the University or Polytechnic level and nothing else. The era of being employed as cleaners, waiters and casual workers are over. This annual conference is the best that ever held since the inception of the (IPU). Everybody in Ivrogbo must embrace light not darkness. I never thought of becoming the President-General of the community but today I have seen that education is the key to success and nothing more.

Hon Dickson Ebegbare Fineboy, the present Vice- Chairman of Isoko Transition Caretaker committee and the son of the community said Ivrogbo people should embrace creative education in the land. The era of manual labour is over. The society is fast developing and Ivrogbo sons and daughters must welcome it now. He used the opportunity to applaud Lagos branch for setting up a secretariat in Lagos and he promised to give them some amount of money to complete the house project by next year and extend his philanthropist gesture on the old men and women of the community for his thanksgiving.

He said we play politics to get favour. Politics is all about quarrelling and settlement. There is no political enemy in the system. If there is work vacancy, I would make sure Ivrogbo people are included. Though I am under somebody and not in a big position. We must learn to appreciate God, he said.

Chief Hon Benjamin Essien Okiemute, Delta State House of Assembly, member and the son of the community said Ivrogbo must work hard to see the progress of the community. We must learn to live above creative wickedness in the land. I personally built Ivrogbo-Grammar school to national standard and nothing else. I will make sure Ivrogbo- Irri Town hall is given to DESOPADEC for ultra- modern one in the nearest future.

Ambassador Jonah Edigbe, the Port Harcourt branch chairman of (IPU) and one of the illustrious sons of the soil declared free personal scholarship to Ivrogbo- Irri indigent students whose parents cannot afford their wards and children school fees and others. He begged parents to encourage education in their immediate environment now because I was not born with a silver spoon I have to struggle to train myself and family to the university level while education is the only key to development in Ivrogbo not sand dredging. He said

Chief Akpojene Receives Mindset Media Award and Certificate

Chief Dr Oke Akpojene(MON), the chairman of Akpojene Farms Ltd and founding fathers of Ulohor Cooperative Society recently received Mindset Media Award and certificate in Lagos.

Speaking with Chief Akpojene, he said that he so delighted to be recognized in Lagos for an award and God bless the organizers of the event. I would have made it to the event but I was occupied with many assignments. I want to see that Akpojene farms is sought after in Nigeria and Abroad and being converted to Agro Industrial Research Institute or University of Agriculture where we train young people on Agricultural development in Nigeria. I pioneered Uloho Cooperative Society and Isoko Community bank now IC- Global bank to where people can borrow money and return but we had some challenges where people were given money but never return in the cooperative which almost collapsed it but God saw us through.

I have received over 30 awards including (MON) and cooperative African ward. I love farming because my elder brother introduced me into farming but late now. My eldest son is also into farming but a Masters Degree holder heading towards his Phd.Akpojene farms has extended to fishing, husbandry, palm kernel processing, cassava farming and others. We have branches in Delta state but Otor- Igho is the headquarters of the farm. I have bought large acres of farm for the business and most of my workers are not Isoko people.

He added that we must equip Isoko youths to be fully engaged in private businesses rather than believing in government opportunities. I would soon invite Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, governor of Delta State to inspect my farms for development. I have spent so much money in sand filling of my farms, road networking and fence around the farms for security reasons. I lost some millions of naira to suddenly deaths of my cows. The era of believing that cow rearing belong to Hausa people is over in Isoko land. He said.
