TB Joshua and Kingson’s Wife (3)

Now, some people point out that these ministries do not teach the total sound doctrines of the bible. Yes, they promote healing, faith, grace, prosperity and other motivational teachings, but where is Jesus in all of it? Where is holiness? Where is sanctification? Where is the suffering and triumph of Jesus? You hardly hear them talk about all these. And this is part of the reason why they are regarded as false prophets and false ministries. Any minister or ministry that does not have Jesus Christ and holiness at the centre of their teachings and activities is not of God. Run away from them! These are the ones the bible said that, “They will act as if they are religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. You must stay away from people like that.” 2 Timothy3:5. Did you read that? They will speak and act (including signs and wonders) like Christians, but would not want to live or even preach holiness and consecration. God said that we should be holy because He is.

But what again did the scripture say? It said that the foundation of God stands firm with an inscription that the Lord knows those who are His, and that those who belong to God MUST live in HOLINESS. Yes, that is the word of God! They hate to hear this. They only want to talk about grace, faith, healing, breakthrough and miracles. Grace with out responsibility? And this is just because they themselves do not aspire to live in holiness, so they also want to lead others to hell. Any minister, ministry or church that does not believe, teach or practice holiness, please run, run away from there, because they are simply preparing you for hell. Miracle, healing (both real and fake), prophecies, signs and wonders will all end here, but holiness, love and your consecration to God will take you to heaven. True!

Then, the other thing they criticise Joshua and Oyakhilome's ministries for is that they do not relate with other Christians and churches. They and others like them run 'exclusive' ministries. For example, do they belong to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) or Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria? Yes, any ministry that does not belong to any of these organisations, especially Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is totally questionable. I absolutely agree with that. That is because CAN accommodates everybody, irrespective of your doctrine, dogma and orientation. In it you'll find the Catholics, Anglican, the evangelicals, the Pentecostals, the white-garment churches, etc. So, what manner of ministry would not associate with this body? Is either you are engulfed with pride, do not belong to Christ or you have something to hide.

Now, if people like the great, proven, powerful, monumental yet humble and trusted ministers like Umar Ukpai, Adeboye, etc, submit to PFN and CAN, then who are Joshua and Oyakhilome. Tell me. Have you seen Umar in his element before? This is one of the greatest men of God ever lived on earth, yet this man submits totally to all these Christian bodies, to a local church and even to Assemblies of God Nigeria. No wonder His anointing has not decreased on him for close to 40 years of exceptional ministry, and also no controversies trailing him. Humility, godliness and consecration!

Even if you claim to have an 'exclusive' ministry, will it be greater than the ministry of Apostle Paul? Paul with all the anointing, special (unusual) miracles, signs and wonders, special and exclusive revelations, privileged background, etc, still went to Jerusalemto consult, pay allegiance, submit and work with the council of elders - the apostles. Christ is certainly not divided. And the scriptures say that we MUST not forsake the assembly of the believers. So, you can only abhor other Christians when you are not one or when you are preaching another 'Jesus' or another gospel. It is as simple as that. The Christian spirit, Holy Spirit is one and will always attract the like.

Charity: This is very important. The first time I watched TB giving out rice, money and care, scholarship to the less privileged; the orphans, widows, disabled, etc, I was indeed moved. Tears were rolling from my eyes. I totally commend that. Even the people that criticize him; that claim to know God better have not done a bit of that. Imagine all the Christian ministries (including the ones that fly expensive private jets, expensive schools, cathedrals and billions in their bank accounts) doing such. Imagine what effect that will have on our society. I love what he is doing, as long as it is genuine.

Having said that, I still want to add that charity, giving arms, scholarships, etc, can never take the place of Jesus Christ, holiness and true gospel. Charity is good, signs and wonders are good, but they are only accessories or effects of the gospel. The foundation remains that Jesus Christ came and died for our sins and that we must accept Him, live by His word (in holiness), if we want to be with Him in eternity. After all, Christians are not the biggest charity organisations. Yes! Most of the biggest world donors are from the other religions and even some atheist. Then, also remember that the bible said that the antichrist will do great signs (which can include charity) that if care is not taken, the elect, believers, Christians would be deceived. The devil is ready to pay any price to have his way. Be warned!

Finally, there are basic things you have to look out for to know whether a ministry is genuine or not. One, do they teach sound doctrine; that is, things that are in line with the scriptures? Two, do they teach and practice holiness? Three, do they love Jesus and other Christians? Three, does the spirit bear witness that the minister or ministry belongs to Christ? Even if you manipulate the others, the last can only be controlled by God. When you don't belong to Him, He will definitely expose your activities (through actions and more importantly through revelations) to others. No man can manipulate this. No miracle, no signs and wonders, no prophecies, 'healing', media manipulation or charity can cover up that. If the Spirit of Christ is in you, He will reveal it to others. But when people see you and your ministry constantly in the negative in the spirit, definitely there must be something wrong somewhere. Did I say anything here? Are you sure? What? Yes, before God there is indeed no secret. Till next week, God bless you!
