Organisers of Nigeria's oldest and most recognised beauty pageant, the Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant, have concluded plans to stage the 2015 edition of the contest.

The 2015 edition will be the 39th since its inception in 1957. It was founded by Nigeria's oldest newspaper, Daily Times of Nigeria.

According to the organisers, this year's edition will see the discovery and crowning of another beauty queen that will make the country proud with inherent attributes of natural beauty, intellectual acumen and motivational vision aimed to inspire her peers in Nigeria and the world over.

Also, the winner will represent the ideals and dignity of the Nigeria woman, a rare combination of beauty and brains, an ambassador for youths and young Nigerian females across the nation, continent and the world.

The holder of the title is also expected to use the platform to further meaningful causes and draw attention to issues inherent within the society such as health, education, poverty alleviation, youth empowerment, domestic violence and many others.

Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant will hold in November, according to the organisers, and participants have already been selected from cities across Nigeria including Enugu, Port Harcourt, Benin, Calabar, Abuja and Lagos.

Some of the past winners include Grace Oyelude in 1957, Yemi Idowu in 1962, Helen Prest in 1979, Binta Sukai in 1990, Vien Tetsola in 2000, Sylvia Edem in 2002, Ene Lawani in 2004 and the last winner, Ezinne Anyaoha in 2013.
