Popular Nigerian comedian, MC Abbey, has disclosed that comedy has gradually grown to become a widely accepted business that has been able to create another avenue for survival.

MC Abbey stated that people now see comedians as professionals and not as school dropouts or people idling away.

According to him, “People now see us as professionals; we are not dropouts or people who are idling away. It is now seen as a business, our passion and profession and so people see us in that light.”

The comedian pointed out that for comedians to be able to stand out among their colleagues, they need to avoid repeating other people's jokes.

“You have to also try not to repeat the jokes that your colleagues have previously rendered, in order to stand out of the crowd. You have to be abreast of the happenings around the world and your terrain and to also lecture people on what is right and wrong”, he told NAN.
