TY Danjuma Foundation, Tricia Esiegbe’s ‘The Psychologist’ In IDP Camp Partnership

The laudable efforts by charming Nollywood star, Tricia Esiegbe, to make the society a better place has continued to be recognized by eminent personalities across the world.

In 2013, the TV star founded The Boldfaces International Children Foundation (BICF) and The Psychologist On The Move Project, which were aimed to mobilize Nigerians to take actions in protecting women and children before they are harmed.

Tricia and her team have been touring the country to raise awareness on sexual abuse on children in the society.

Former Inspector-General of Police, MD Abubakar, Major Al-Mustapha are among the many personalities that have thrown their weights behind the projects.

As you read this, 'The Psychologist' is in partnership with TY Danjuma Foundation, an NGO that aims to give Nigerians quality access to healthcare, education and equal opportunity to realize their full potentials.

The partnership between the two organizations was announced during the 6th TYDF Grantees Training exercise held at the Goshen Guest House in Nasarawa State.

Speaking at the occasion, TYDF Executive Director Dr Florence Etta-Akin Aina, thanked General T Y. Danjuma (rtd) for his vision in setting up the TYDF and touching the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

Dr. Etta stated that, “This year's Internally Displaced Persons are the special focus of our support. All the project in the 2015 cycle are been implemented in IDP camps within the FCT, Taraba and Edo state. This is not the first time the Foundation is living up to its value of “sensitivity and responsiveness.”

In 2011, TY Danjuma Foundation responded to national (flood) disaster in Kogi and Edo State, and in December 2014, the Foundation provided relief materials to IDP camps in Taraba State.

Dr Etta believes the coming together of 'The Psychologist On The Move' and TY Danjuma Foundation IDP Camps Partnership is a breath of fresh air that will help address the mental and sexual health issues within the IDP camps.

She called for support from others and urging the media to do more reporting of child sexual abuse/ r@pe and the conditions in the IDP camps.

She also invited the media to participate at the launch of TYDF 2015 IDP grants activities being planned for 3rd week of June 2015.

Responding, Tricia Eseigbe Kerry thanked TYDF for selecting 'The Psychologist On The Move' as one of its partners for the 2015 IDP camps peculiar intervention, stating that 'The Psychologist' will embark on Women R@pe/ Child Sexual Abuse Advocacy meetings and Psychological First Aid Section Tour within IDP camps.

The actress expressed hopes that the partnership will help to educate IDP camps women/ children on how to stay safe and also help to build self-esteem and confidence of victims of sexual abuse within the IDP camps.

Tricia also urged Nigerians to be part of the fight against child sexual abuse in the society because children are vulnerable and voiceless. “We must be a voice for them,” she declared.
