Fuel Scarcity: Two Cops Detained In Ondo

It was like a drama in Akure, the Ondo state capital, when two mobile policemen were lockedup at a filling station in the capital city over attempt at assaulting the petrol attendants on duty last Thursday for several minutes.

According to the owner of the filling station, Mr. Tope Omileye, of MRS filling station along the popular Oba Adesida road in the town, the two policemen in uniformed armed came to the filling station demanding to buy fuel, when the attendants on duty explained that the station had not gotten stock for over a long period of time, only for the police officers to start beating the attendants for not providing fuel for them.

Omoleye added that it was a life surprise for the female attendant, who narrated the matter to her boss as the two policemen pounced on her, giving her a horrible beaten, dragged her on the floor to the toilet, as her skirt was torn to shreds.

The lady that was later rushed to an hospital for medical attention, as the whole office of the filling station was disorganized, and doors broken by the policemen as was alleged by the owner of the filling station.

It was however gathered that in the process the two police men were beaten and doing all sorts to the lady at the toilet, that the other attendants with the support of the teeming crowd quickly locked the gate of the office of the filling station against the policemen, before a signal was sent to the nearest police station and they were later taken to the police station for further interrogation and action by the police authority.

When contacted on the matter, the state Police Public Relations Officer, for the command, Mr. Wole Ogodo said he has not been briefed about the incident.
