Generally, the female folks in the entertainment industry in Nigeria are gradually having a voice that is loud enough to cause a roar.

Some of them are even getting successful and commanding large fan base like their top male counterparts.

This could have informed the decision of a telecoms giant to celebrate women in the creative industry over the weekend in Lagos at an event tagged 'Woman Rising'. The programme was designed as an arts development and performance event.

The occasion was co-hosted by Kemi Lala Akindoju and Aderonke Adebanjo and featured the screening of the award-winning film, 'The Supreme Price', which had as member of cast, female rights activist, Hafsat Abiola-Costello.

The climax of the celebrations was at the popular Federal Palace Hotel with the serenading of music from an all-female jazz band directed by Jazz Pianist, Rolake Akinkugbe under the auspices of The Woman Rising 2015 Musical Concert.

Other performing musicians at the event included Ruby Gyang, Modele, Tonye and United Kingdom based Bumi Thomas as well as veteran screen acts, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett and Iretiola Doyle.
