Police Arraign woman, 34, Over Dog’s Attack On Neighbour

The police on Friday arraigned a 34-year-old woman, Blessing Eluwa, in an Ota Magistrates' Court in Ogun, for allowing her dog to bite her neighbour.

Eluwa, who lives at No. 4, Ehiorobo Street, off The Bells area, Ota, is facing a two-count charge of causing breach of peace and allowing her dog to cause harm to her neighbour.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Rosemary Brown, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Mrach 30 at about 2 p.m. at her residence.

Brown said the accused negligently allowed her Alsatian dog, which should have been chained or caged, to bite one Herny Omoniyi.

She said the offences contravened section 249 (d) and 344 of the Criminal Code Revised Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

However, the accused, pleaded not guilty to the offences and the Magistrate, Miss Temitope Adebutu, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

She said that the surety must be employed and reside within the magisterial district and swear to an affidavit of means.

Adebutu also said that the surety should provide evidence of payment of at least one year tax and submit photocopy of the tax clearance to the court as she adjourned the case until June 3 for hearing. (NAN)
