My Thoughts On General Muhammadu Buhari The Now President - Elect Of Nigeria - Princess Haliday

Princess Halliday is the host of popular “Princess Halliday Show” in Uk, all over Europe.

Several thoughts arose in my heart for Nigeria when I got to know few months ago while recording Empower Africa Initiative in Nigeria, that the Presidential candidate for the opposition party in the 2015 Presidential election in Nigeria would be General Muhammadu Buhari .

As a teenager,I carried out an average research on the General because I wasn't present at the time of his military rulership in Nigeria. I followed closely his 2003, 2007 and 2011 attempt for the office of the President of Nigeria.

I would consistently put in words to stakeholders in Nigeria, partners, guest on my show, everyday people to hear the people's thoughts, view and knowledge of General Buhari. I was thirsty to know why he was called a 'military dictator' and at the same time seen as one who would position Nigeria to rout the current Janus-faced pattern from Nigerian Governance.

I watched and participated in person with GREAT admiration the passion with which Governor Rotimi Amaechi (The Director General of the All progressive Congress)steered and pursued these values for change in Nigeria.

With sleepless nights the women of River State gather for prayers, seeking direction and change spearheaded by Dame Judith Amaechi. Collectively with: the people's vote, the belief that General Buhari will inculcate his fervid anti-corruption values, and the confidence the people of Nigeria exude on General Muhammadu Buhari's campaign supporters–He emerged winner of the 2015 Nigerian Presidential election. The first time ever in the history of Nigeria an opposition would defeat an Incumbent President.

Here are my thoughts:

1. Would General Muhammadu Buhari keep to his promises he made to Nigerians on Security and the Economy ensuring we are not back to square one?

2. Based on Integrity would he fulfill the trust the People of Nigeria bestowed on him and the voice of his campaign Lead?

3. 60% of the Nigerian population today are youths; will General Buhari acknowledge and appoint young Nigerians who are the leaders of today in his administration to further enforce change?

This last question is quite close to my heart, not just for fact that I am a young Nigerian, but the understanding that we recently have not had young demographics (25-35)productive Nigerians with Leadership capacity as Leaderson the federal Level of Nigerian Leadership.

General Buhari is responsible to appoint leaders, advisers, representatives who would be accountable in conveying all information to him as it relates to Nigeria and not keeping away that which is not in their interest.

The Nigerian Presidency is a very powerful one. The President of Nigeria does have the capacity and is in a position to set a different tone.

The Nigerian system of Governance has to imbibe new ethos of Responsibility and accountability.

If General Muhammadu Buhari sets a different tone and stays the course, the Nigerian system will be revolutionized keeping in mind that it takes a collective effort of the Government and the people to implement a change.

How fulfilling will it be when Nigeria, under the rulership of General Muhammadu Buhari will be perceived at every instance as a country known for its dignity–Indeed Nigerians will be proud to be part of this Historic change.
