The online media turned on its heels when the news emerged that Nollywood actor turned-politician, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) had joined the throng of decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress. The politician has come out to straighten the records.

In his response, while making reference to an online media outfit asking him if he had cross-carpeted from his party to the opposition, the actor explained that if he was going to decamp to another party, he would be straight forward with the news.

Setting the records straight, RMD stressed that he only hosted his friend, Olorogun O'tega Emerhor, in his community where they rubbed minds together on some issues.

"A text message called my attention to the rumour that I have decamped to APC. For the records, I hosted my brother and friend Olorogun O'tega Emerhor at my country home during his visit to my community where we discussed personal and political matters," he explained

"I therefore humbly state that till this moment, I, Richard Eyimofe Damijo, have not defected to APC and assure you that if I do, I will be forthright with the information. I also request that my sincere response be the first point of reference to the question has RMD defected to APC," he said.

RMD became the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State, Nigeria in 2009 on the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
