Story, Not Atom

By Isawumi Abiola

I grew up with special interest in stories. Like every Ali in Kwara, Wale in Lagos, Kofi in Ghana and Chrisoe in Bahamas, I was in real love with stories! With no proper realization in the fact behind the wisdom of Muriel Rukeyser, when he said, “The universe is made of stories and not atoms”.

No wonder, several times I've gone to bed with good memories of well narrated story saying no to my empty stomach. Come to think of life, one beautiful thing is to tell a good story. Good ones like gaining admission into a college to study your 'dream course' or leading your class with A-grades or having a well registered name in the world of exploits.

Excellent ones like Super Eagles winning the nation cup or the gold medal in the Olympics. Emotional ones like waiting for the 'YES' answer from your to-be spouse or your first night together after the 'Yes I do' thing.

Anyway, excellent or emotional, great or wonderful; one best way to define a good story is the texture of its joy and the fragrance of its love. Since it is a world that regards 'varieties', stories are diverse and we all have one to tell.

No one makes your story real like yourself; meaning, you hold the tools to moderate your own story. Stories are personal, that makes 'it' your responsibility. The outcome is your choice because 'histories' are made by men.

The root of life is the heart and every story can be traced to a source- – – the Mind. Positive Psychology explains how the mind controls life and actions. The instrumentality of the mind monitors the 'little voices' that forms life and dictate true stories. Your life must tell a good story!

What motivates your story?
To the wise, life is about connecting the dots, that is, linking events from the past-passed through the present-present to the future.

Remember that the greatness of every man is in his story! Live a correct life to create right dots, because they will connect to form a story for you.

A sad story, in appearance is bad, but it is just a bend and not your end. Your life will tell a good story
