Finally, the much awaited declaration of interest by President Goodluck Jonathan to seek for a second term in office has been finally laid to rest. The president told leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at the Presidential Villa, Abuja today that he would procure nomination form of the party before the deadline.

It was gathered that the President has set up a presidential declaration committee charged with the duty of drawing up a formal programme for his declaration.

The Presidential Declaration Committee is headed by Dr. Haliru Bello, a former Minister of Defence. The declaration will hold between November 7 and 15.

Recall that Goodluck Jonathan automatically rose from the office of a Vice President to that of the President 5-years ago, shortly after President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua joined the great beyond on May 5, 2010.

He was later elected in 2011 to continue with his good works as the number one person in Nigeria.

On July, 2011, one of Nigeria's top dailies, The Guardian Newspaper splashed a cover headline; ''I won't stay in power beyond 2015-Jonathan insists'', because the

Bayelsa State born 'Oga at the top' made a promise not to stay put in power more than a term.

However, the taste of power has made his Excellency forget his words so soon. The saying that power intoxicates more than wine can be clearly seen in the latest presidential declaration of Goodluck Jonathan.
