Aderombi Adedayo popularly known by fans as Honorable Dee-One is one of Nigerian fast rising comedian who started his comedy career in 2011.
Honorable De-one is a graduate of architecture from Convernant University in 2011, and he became popular after emerging winner as the best comedy artist at Amsteel Malta talent show competition in 2011.In this chat De-one disclosed his journey as an upcoming comedian and other issues .Enjoy
How was the experience at the Amsteel malt talent show?
It was good, because we had a lot of artistes there, Dare Art Alade, Wizkid, and Psqure and among others. So the experience was great. I will say that the Amsteel Malta show launched me into the industry, in the sense that when people see me they were like oh you are the guy that performed at the Amsteel talent show, can I have your number. So with that I've been able to get more contacts and fame as well.
What are the challenges facing comedians in Nigeria?
Apart from some comedians stealing materials, I don't really see any other thing that is a challenge in the comedy industry.
Have you had such experience before?
Several times but am not moved anymore
Because nothing can sound as good as the original but personally i don't have a problem with it. If i have a problem, what do I expect Alibaba to do? Most of the popular jokes today are from him
But looking at the comedy industry, what do you think need to be fixed?
The industry is still growing; we are growing so fast, a lot of things are already getting fixed. I just feel most people and companies are yet to realize how important comedians are, we should have more money rolling in still things are getting better because now an upcoming comedian gets about 200 thousand for a job
But how do you want companies to come in?
By endorsing more comedians, some have started already and they can see difference in sales and advert. Humour is really important. Everybody loves to have a good laugh
Any memorable experience?
Yea, that was during my first show in London it was awesome i didn't believe i will perform, thanks to julius Agwu. He believed in me and that really touched me
Tell us more about the London show?
I was in London for vacation, I heard about *crack ya ribs" so i decided to call and see if I could perform, to my surprise I meet with julius Agwu when he came to London and he just liked me just like that. He didn't audition me, just told me i will start the show. I was so glad, and ever since we have had a very good relationship that was in 2010
That means you haven't started comedy professionally right?
Yes, so u can imagine the confidence and moral he gave me. It meant so much to me

Ok, someone cool. I hate people who nag

Nicki Minaj

Am yet to see a Nigerian babe that has what she has

What project are you working on presently?
A comedy movie soon

No, it's like that of Jennifer's comedy movie

Don't want to say much about the movie but it's going to be really funny. Am taking my time because I want to do it well

Not really because I will be doing part of it in Nigeria

Have a team of professionals already, they are really good and they are Nigerians
