LAUTECH Hosts Nigerian Campus Journalists

After a 6 day rigorous and impacting training sessions for her members, the Union of Campus Journalist ( U.C.J) LAUTECH crowned this year's Campus Journalist Training Forum (C.J.T.F.) with a mind blowing Campus Journalism Symposium (CJS2015), which was themed: "Campus Journalism; A veritable tool for national development".

The event which was held at the Chemical engineering Lecture hall, high rise building of the prestigious Faculty of engineering and technology, left the attendees asking for more, courtesy the various breath-taking segments incorporated into the one day programme.

The journalism symposium, first of its kind not only in LAUTECH but Nigeria as a whole was anchored by the versatile and talented Parrot FM sport analyst who is a 500 level student of Mechanical Engineering, Wisdom Daniel odetayo and was co anchored by Adegoke Ajiboye, the Lovedoctor.

The event kicked off with exquisite and wisdom filled poetry rendition by talented poets among which was the famous Vicadex, and Joy of Eloquent concepts. The U.C.J LAUTECH President, was not left out in the feat as he treated the engrossed audience to his Yoruba laced poem titled "Arise O Compatriots!".

Introduction of Guests came up and it was followed promptly by an all-encompassing speech from U.C.J (LAUTECH) President, Zubair Jafar Alabi where He emphasized on how the country can be refurbished purposefully with the use of pen.

The business of the day commenced with an insight into the Origin of journalism, its evolution up till date and how it can be employed as a tool for tilting the Nation to a greater height. That was meticulously addressed by the publisher, The Insight (newspaper) as He unveiled the theme, "Campus Journalism: a veritable tool for national development".

His presentation was substantiated and further examined by the General Manager Parrrot FM, Mr. Ademola Adeniyi popularly known on-air as Kukulaja who did justice to the topic, "Broadcasting; Rudiments and opportunities". The eloquent and well versed broadcaster, a Yoruba product of Obafemi Awolowo University who spoke English without a itch carried all and sundry along as he examined the nitty gritty as well as opportunities embedded in Broadcast Journalism.

That was not all, as the third Speaker Dr M.A. Adedimeji though absent was duly represented by Alao Idris, a former U.C.J President, University of Ilorin, who is currently the S.U.G President of the school. The student lawyer came up the podium and gave a concise talk on the topic, "I.C.T age journalism".

The event also saw Mr A.S.O. Agboola a.k.a Dan fodio, pioneer President of the U.C.J LAUTECH, charging all pen pushers to a active and selfless service citing himself as an exemplar. Similarly, the President, U.C.J Unilorin, Olayiwola WaliyuLlah must have got all participants on their toes as he briefly shed light on the advantageous use of social media as well as its benefits.

There was a presentation of gift to the best inductee for the Induction training 2015 (INDUCTRA '15) , Sakariyyah Bolaji Abbas and the event was rounded off with presentation of certificates to the attendees.
