Tinubu's Aid, Who Engage S/e Communities With Measures To Eradicate Malaria .

The Senior special Assistant to the president on Community engagement, south east, Mrs Chioma Nweze in partnership with World Health Organization, and Chestrad global has distributed vital resources ranging from malaria drugs, mosquito nets, malaria rapid diagnostic tests (MRDT), and personal protective equipment (PPE) to communities in the south east.

The program themed "Let's Change the Malaria Narrative Now," witnessed a remarkable turnout of people and community leaders who came to participate in the unprecedented initiative that took place at Ohaozara Local Government Area headquarters in Obiozara, Ebonyi state.

It had in attendance a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, including four doctors led by Dr. Spencer Okorie, nine nurses under the guidance of Mrs. Umeh Bridget Lebechi, the HOD of Health in Ohaozara LGA, as well as a health facilitator and a pharmacists, who provided essential medical services.

Participants were educated on various aspects of malaria, including its transmission, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies.

They were also tutored on the need to engage in an environmental cleanup exercise as one of the ways to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds within their communities.

The event also witnessed voluntary malaria testing conducted on attendees to determine their infection status and those who tested positive were promptly administered treatment and counseled on proper medication usage to prevent drug abuse.

In her remarks, the Special assistant to the president on Community engagement, south east, Mrs Chioma Nweze said that the collaborative efforts showcased during the 2024 World Malaria Day in Ohaozara LGA have set a precedent for ongoing community-driven malaria eradication efforts, and collective resolve to combat the preventable disease.

Nweze expressed gratitude to the community members for their enthusiasm and commitment to eradicating malaria in Ohaozara LGA, adding that the event underscored a unified resolve to combat malaria and create a healthier, more resilient society.

She expressed hope that with renewed determination and community support, the fight against malaria in Ohaozara LGA has been ignited, paving way for a future free from the burden of this preventable disease.
