The National Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme (NUPCPS) has urged the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp) to grow better relationships with retirees for information sharing that would help them to improve on documentation process.

While commending the impact of the contributory pension scheme (CPS) in the country, the pensioners said that some aspects of the scheme still need to be improved upon.

They disclosed this when the group paid a courtesy visit to the PenOp office in Lagos. They urged PenOp to foster a better engagement with stakeholders to ensure issues affecting retirees are promptly resolved.

The pensioners further noted that the CPS is the best thing that has happened to Nigeria’s pension administration. The pensioners who were represented by their executives from various states mentioned that the CPS is created to serve the interest of pensioners but needs to be implemented to the letter.

Responding, the former Chief Executive Officer of PenOp, Oguche Agudah, stated that pensioners are the reason the industry exists and that all workers in the pension space should appreciate pensioners for their jobs. He commended the retirees for giving their all to the country and their organisations in their active years.
