The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, on Monday, suspended three lawmakers reportedly loyal to the impeached deputy governor, Philip Shaibu.

The suspended lawmakers include Donald Okogbe, Akoko-Edo II; Addeh Emankhu Isibo, Esan North-East I and Iyamu Bright, Orhionnwon II.

One of the legislators on suspension, Donald Okogbe of the PDP representing Akoko-Edo II, is known to be a supporter of the ousted deputy governor. Notably, Okogbe refrained from endorsing the petition that ultimately resulted in Shaibu's removal from office.

During a rowdy plenary on Monday, the speaker accused the lawmakers of bringing native doctors to the House on May 1st at around 1 am to perform a sacrifice.

Agbebaku also said the three lawmakers were suspended indefinitely over plot to cause chaos in the House and remove the house’s leadership.

The suspension of the lawmakers, however, created tension in the House as the affected lawmakers kicked against their suspension.

In a rowdy session, the three suspended lawmakers were seen screaming, “Mr Speaker, you do not have the right to unilaterally suspend any member(s) of the house.

“You must call for votes. Allow members to vote on the matter.” The Speaker then adjourned the plenary abruptly.
